Awesome & Awkward: Car Wrecks, Walking Bridge and a Game of Pool

What a weekend!  I'm writing today from the comfort of my brand new apartment, and I am so excited to finally be here.  I've been counting down the days since January.  Crazy, right?  That's what happens when you renew a lease and then discover a beautiful new apartment complex being built across town.  Shout out to all of my amazing friends for helping me move and get settled in.

Here's the latest dish of awesome and awkward:

Awesome: A Qdoba (or any Mexican food for that matter) dinner date with Chelcey.  We met to discuss plans for our blogs and of course indulge in some chips and queso.  There's nothing like closing the place down and having the employees wondering what the heck we are in doing in there with notebooks, pens, binders, you name it.  Yes, we are very aware this isn't Panera.
Awkward: Nearly getting into a car wreck on the way there.  It was one of those "oh crap I got in the middle turning lane too soon, I better hop back into the regular driving lane" moments, only I failed at really looking to see if it was clear.  Thankfully I didn't pull far enough into the lane to hit anyone but it still made me feel like an idiot, especially with the other cars waiting to turn who saw the whole thing and the embarrassment on my face.

Awesome: Gorgeous weather and hitting up the walking bridge downtown with my sister.  Oh, and we may or may not have eaten at Chipotle beforehand.  If you ever have the desire to walk from Kentucky to Indiana (or vice versa) then this is the place for you.  The Indiana side knows what's up and has a cute little sweet treats shoppe at the end, a perfect reward for crossing the mighty Ohio River if I do say so myself.
Awkward: When someone asks you to take their picture along the bridge.  I get it, you have the skyline in the background and the sun is setting just right, but I always feel so awkward when someone asks me to take their picture.  Do I count down for them?  Should I take more than one?  Well yes, I did count down.  And then decided to snap another photo as they started walking toward me to take the camera back.  I'm a pro, I tell ya.

Awesome: A first date consisting of dinner and drinks at a nearby bar.  This bar just so happened to have a pool table.  Now, my usual judge of success when it comes to pool is if the cue ball actually makes contact with another ball.  I don't even go so far as to hope to hit my own, either will do.  I'm the queen of whiffs.  Imagine my surprise when I ended up winning the game, all by myself!  I think I found my new hobby.
Awkward: Being told by a creepy old man fellow bar patron that I am the pretties girl in the whole place and the guy I'm with sure is lucky to have me, that is unless I'm his sister.  I'm going to be honest, this isn't the first time I've been hit on by a random while on a date with another guy.  At this point, I just laugh and brush it off but it still catches me off guard.

What are some awesome and awkward moments from your week?

That Time My Face Was Featured on Anthropologie's Website

Ok, so it wasn't exactly my face because that was cut out of the picture.  But still!  I'm sitting at my desk at work, minding my own business and winding down for the day, when that glorious little Instagram notification popped up on my phone.  "Anthropologie added a photo of you."  Ok, that's cool.  I didn't realize Anthro and I were bff's like that, but cool!  I open the app and see a pretty collage with a bunch of photos, myself included.  A freak-out, dance party, OH EM GEE moment followed, then a text to

Chelcey

.  Of course I had to screen shot that sucker too, for proof.

So here's the deal - Anthropologie is starting an online photo gallery and they want YOUR photos.  They say to post your favorite Anthro finds on Instagram with #Anthropologie.  Don't forget the hash tag.  It's very important.  Add some more on there while you're at it!

Here's a snippet of my photo.  You can find the entire gallery at

This was such a nice surprise and great way to end the work day!

Shout out if you get featured too!

My Top Five Guilty Pleasure TV Shows

Given all of the Pretty Little Liars binge-watching I've been doing lately, I've started to feel slightly embarrassed about it.  At work, I can't wait to get home so I can watch more episodes and see what A is going to do next.  And I've started spinning things going on in my life into the plot on the show, like when I spent time with my sister this past week and heard strange noises coming from upstairs at our parents' house.  It had to be A up there, obviously.  I might be passed the point of no return.  PS - if you don't watch PLL and don't understand the previous references, I'm sorry.  Here are five more guilty pleasure TV shows to whet your appetite!

1.

The Only Way is Essex

-

This show is "Britain's answer to The Hills" - another show I loved.  If you can look past the excessive amounts of plastic surgery and shallowness, you just might actually start to like these people.  Clearly I'm not afraid to admit that I'm obsessed with them and have to know every last detail about their lives.  Just don't blame me when you start talking in a British accent with your friends, replacing swear words with "bullocks," and calling sweaters "jumpers."

2.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians

- I've been keeping up since the beginning, when the show first premiered seven years ago.  Seriously, how has it been that long?  Through the ups and the downs, I've started to feel like

I'm

a part of the family.  There's a little bit more plastic surgery to deal with, but what's not to love about Kim, Kourtney and Khloe?  They've built an empire around their brand, and you have to respect that.

3.

Snapped -

Just because you watch a show about women who kill their husbands, it doesn't mean that you're a crazy psychopath, right?  In all reality, I am just fascinated with the psychology side of these cases.  Watching the interviews with the women once they've been convicted is pretty crazy.  And it's even crazier when you watch an episode that takes place where you live.  Totally makes you question everything you know about your neighbors.

4.

Property Virgins

- For something a little more lighthearted, I turn to HGTV and Property Virgins.  It's totally relate-able for twenty-somethings because the people they feature are usually young couples or professionals looking to buy their first place.  This show will give you real estate fever like no other, and it's so addictive.  If you're not in any position to take on a mortgage, you can settle for some redecorating to curb your appetite instead.

5.

Shark Tank

- The entrepreneur in me just had to include this show.  Some people have great ideas, and others, not so much.  Either way, it's always interesting to see what ideas others have come up with for new products and business models.  The sharks can be vicious, especially Mr. Wonderful.  He's the type you love to hate.  You might learn a thing or two about business while you watch too, which isn't half bad for a guilty pleasure.

What are your favorite guilty pleasure tv shows?
